Her scientific interests include the liturgical and devotional culture of the Middle Ages with a special focus on prayer practices of the late medieval nunneries. The area of her particular interest concerns liturgical manuscripts and their fragments from medieval Livonia and the Baltic region.

Laine Tabora is actively engaged in research on medieval music. She is the author of several scholarly publications and regularly presents her work at international academic conferences. In December 2024, she defended her doctoral dissertation on fifteenth-century manuscripts of the Cistercian nunnery of St. Mary Magdalene in Riga at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, where she was awarded the highest distinction (summa cum laude).
